How To Set Up An Apple Genius Bar Appointment

When your Apple devices or software aren’t working the way they should, you may have a cracked iPhone screen, or your MacBook Pro isn’t charging properly. Whatever your issue, there’s an app for that! Apple offers a variety of tech support options for its customers. Some of the support options include phone, live chat and email support. This walkthrough will show you how to set up an Apple Genius Bar appointment.

You can mail your product to an Apple Repair Center or take it to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for hardware repairs. In addition, you can talk to someone via online chat, phone, or email for general questions.

But if you’re looking for in-person tech support without the waiting, set up a Genius Bar appointment to show an Apple expert precisely what’s going on and learn about your options for resolving your issue.

What Is The Genius Bar?

The Genius Bar is a hands-on technical support station located inside Apple’s retail stores. When you have questions or need support for your Apple products, such as  Mac, iPod, Apple TV, or iPhone, you can get expert advice and training at the Genius Bar in any Apple Retail Store.

The Genius Bar employees, called Geniuses, are specially trained and certified Apple experts. The main jobs of the Geniuses are to help Apple users with hardware and software. They can answer your questions, provide personal support, and offer repairs. Most of the services they provide are free. They can do repairs, but you have to pay for non-warranty services if your device is not covered by the Apple warranty, an AppleCare plan.

While you can make a Genius Bar appointment in-store, due to Apple stores’ high customer traffic, it’s good to make one before you arrive to get the quickest and most hassle-free one-on-one assistance.

Here’s how it’s done.

How To Set Up An Apple Genius Bar Appointment

  • Go to 
  • Select the product you need assistance with.
  • Scroll down to “Tell us how we can help” and then click “Get support.”
  • Choose the topic that best describes the issue you’re having.
  • Select the subtopic that best describes the issue you’re having.
    • Note: If you don’t see your issue listed, select “The topic is not listed” and explain the problem.
  • Follow the page prompts to give Apple more information about your issue. You may be presented with potential fixes to try on the spot if you haven’t already.
  • Select ” Bring in for Repair ” for Genius Bar on the “How would you like to get help?” page, and select “Bring in for Repair” for Genius Bar.
  • You’ll be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID.
  • Find the nearest service provider by entering your address or using your current location.
    • Note: You can search for service providers by distance or appointment availability on the map.
  • Choose the service provider you want to visit.
  • Select an available appointment date and time.
  • Click “Confirm Appointment” and wait for the confirmation page before closing the window.

How To Make A Genius Bar Appointment From Your Web Browser

If your iPhone or iPad is broken (or you don’t have one) and can’t use the Apple Support app, don’t worry! You can also set up an appointment online using your Mac or any other device with an Internet connection.

  • Open your browser.
  • Go to the Apple Support website””
  • Type your support issue into the search bar, or click the device or service you need help with.
  • Click the “Start A Repair Request Today” link.
  • Click the “Bring In For Repair” button and follow the prompts to set up an appointment.

How To Reschedule Or Cancel An Apple Genius Bar Appointment

  • Click “Reschedule” or “Cancel.”
  • If you’re rescheduling, select a different date and time. The confirmation page will update accordingly.
  • If you’re canceling, you’ll see a confirmation message that the appointment has been canceled.

It is important to note that your Genius Bar appointment may last about 15 minutes. If your device needs a hardware repair, Genius will discuss with you your repair options. This may include any applicable charges.
