One beautiful feature that kickstarts Instagram into one of the biggest and most used social mediaplatforms is its never-ending feed. As we all know, the Instagram feed is what loads up on your smartphone’s screen when you launch the Instagram application to check up on your friends and family.
Instagram has its own sets of issues, with many users reporting that the feed content is not refreshing. And the issue can be caused by poor-quality phone signal, or it may be due to the app testing out new features.
Instagram may sometimes fail to refresh your feed, you won’t be able to see any new posts from others and may display a “Couldn’t refresh feed” error on the screen.
This article explains how to fit it when your Instagram feed is not refreshing. You can try fixing this problem by following the fixes methods we’ve enlisted below.

Method One: Check your Internet Connection

Like any other social media application, Instagram will only work on smartphoneslong as it is tethered to an internet connection. For example, suppose your Instagram feed is unable to refresh. In that case, the biggest culprit is your connection to the internet, which could be affected for several reasons – malfunctioning router, poor signal strength between router and devices, or an outage that’s affecting your ISP’s servers.
To ensure your device is connected to excellent or reliable internet, you can try loading other social media apps like Facebook or Twitter and its website. Also, you can check your internet speed by going to speedtest.net on your web browser to make sure it’s fast enough to use Instagram. Suppose your internet speeds are low and Instagram isn’t the only service affected. In that case, it’s probably time you upgrade it to a better internet plan or opt for a different service provider.

Method Two: Sign Out of Instagram and Re-login

Instagram feed not refreshing issue may occur as developers of the platform continue to make minor tweaks to the app that may sometimes result in significant problems for some users. But, you can sign out of Instagram and re-login to troubleshoot the issue:
  • First, open the Instagram app and go to settings.
  • Next, scroll down and then tap Log Out.
  • Then, log back in and check your feed.
If it’s still not working, try one of the other steps below.

Method Three: Update the Instagram app

An outdated app can encounter feed not loading. If you’re using Instagram on iOS or Androiddevices, you can solve the app’s feed refresh problem by updating to its latest version via the App Store or Google Play. We recommend installing the latest versions of the app to remove existing bugs and issues you may face when navigating through posts and stories on Instagram.
You can manually update the Instagram app by following either of these steps:
On Android:
  • Open the Google Play Store app, and go to your profile picture.
  • Then, choose to manage apps and devices, and update the Instagram app if available.
On iOS:
  • Open the App Store app.
  • Go to your profile picture at the top right corner, and tap on Update all.

Method Four: Check Instagram Servers

If it does turn out that Instagram developers are making some tweaks to the app that are leading to bugs, you can check if that’s the case by visiting a third-party ‘status checker’ site, which sees other users of platforms reporting issues they’re facing. If no one else is facing issues at the time, you can likely assume the problem is on your end, not Instagram’s. Status-checker websites include DownDetector, Down For Everyone Or Just Me, downrightnow, Is It Down Right Now? or Outage.Report.

Method Five: Clear Instagram Cache

Android devices have a way to remove or clear the app’s cache to clear the device storage significantly. So after you’ve troubleshot the issue with the above fixes methods and your Instagram feed fails to refresh, one way to fix this problem is to clear Instagram’s temporary cache data.
  • Locate the Instagram app from the App drawer and long-press on its app icon.
  • Select the “i” icon or the App info option when a menu appears.
  • Inside the App info screen, select Storage and cache.
  • On the next screen, tap on Clear Cache.
This method will remove all the temporary data that was stored inside Instagram. You can now open Instagram and check if its loads up correctly.
