Destiny 2: How to Get the Lumina and Rose Hand Cannons
The Lumina hand cannon is the fifth Exotic hand cannon in four seasons. But unlike the other four, Lumina is all about healing rather than damaging. Lumina is the reversal of Thorn, and you’ll need to de-corrupt the infamous Weapon of Sorrow if you want to help your allies overcome the dangers of the Destiny universe. This walkthrough explains how to get Lumina and Rose Hand Cannons in Destiny 2.

1. Locating The Lumina Quest
To start the Lumina quest in Destiny 2, you have to go to where you began the Thorn quest, which is in the Salt Mines in the EDZ.

- Navigate to the Trostland fast travel point located in front of the Church.
- A pathway lies beyond the Church with huge banners over it, follow this path
- At the end, you’ll come upon an open area which is the Salt Mines.
2. Locating Rose
On receiving the letter from Shin, you have to find a chest in a Lost Sector with the aid of your calibration device. The chest is designed with beautiful roses on it.
3. Bearers of Evil Past
After completing the above, the next step is to generate 250 Orbs of Light. This is quite tasking. You can go to the Leviathan and acquire orbs from enemies in the Castellum Encounter. Once you’ve generated all 250, you’ll earn Rose and three new quests.
4. Rose Revealed
The Rose with you isn’t at its best yet. You need to power it up before acquiring Lumina.
To attain this you have to complete three quests in any order you wish. The quests are as follows:
- Band Together
- Face the Hordes
- Defend the Light
4.1. Band Together
Complete a 50,000-point Nightfall. Curate your Nightfall card so you’re exactly 10 Power above the recommended level. Switch on Match Game and Grounded to generate points rapidly.

4.2. Face The Hordes
Complete 35 points worth of Blind Well, Black Armory Forges, or Escalation Protocol. It’s advised to run Heroic Blind Well to earn points as rapidly as possible. Seven points are earned for each full completion.
4.3. Defend The Light
Defeat 100 enemies without reloading your weapon. This is possible by using the Exotic auto rifle Sweet Business and a heavy machine gun to help grind through those enemies.
5. FireTeam Leader
On completion of the three side quests and restoration of your Rose, regroup. In this quest, you have to use the Rose to complete the missions. As long as your members have the Rose, you’ll earn bonus points here.
We recommend running a quick Strike like Lake of Shadows in the EDZ. Menagerie and Heroic Menagerie also give decent percent for the time they take.
6. Strength in Numbers
This is probably the hardest part. Using hand cannons in your team, you’ll have to defeat enemy Guardians to acquire 50 orbs of Light for your allies while destroying and defending against invaders.
6.1 Killing Guardians
Killing Guardians as a team comes naturally from PvP. Simply enter Quickplay with Austringer or another hand cannon you prefer. Based on our testing, you get about 1% per kill, but any teammate’s hand cannon kills contribute to your quest as well.
6.2. Acquiring 50 Orbs
Quickplay is your best bet for this. Just use your preferred Masterworked weapons to make Orbs in Nightfalls or Public Events.
6.3. Defend Against Invaders
Killing an enemy Invader before they can kill your ally is quite tasking. This is from experience. You have to be well-coordinated to achieve this.
- First, you should fan out as wide as possible and make sure your allies have a weapon that can kill in a single shot like Izanagi’s Burden of Power ammo. This gives confidence in killing instantly.
- Another way is for you and your allies to come together at the back of the arena and wait for enemies to destroy them as soon as they emerge.
7. Crystal Hunting With XOL
Your Rose needs charging, you can do that by using Light. Navigate to the Will of the Thousands strike on Mars. Ready your Rose and go through the Strike, demolishing 11 of the various Hive crystals scattered around. You can only kill them with Rose, and you can’t kill 10 on one run and then one more on the next. They all need to be in one Strike.
