Best Dash Cam For Cars In 2022

A dual-channel camera is handy for drivers who want to increase their scope of view. This walkthrough will highlight the best dash cam for cars in 2022.

A dual-channel dashcam is designed to record the view in front and behind your vehicle. Many accidents on the road happen at low speeds and involve rear-end collisions.

You’d still miss some specific angles no matter what when driving. The rear dash camera adds a level of security and assurance. Furthermore, the rear dash cam could be the answer in settling insurance disputes and claims.

Although this camera doesn’t record in 4K UHD, the DR750-2CH LTE features a crisp and clear full HD 1080p video. It can achieve this by recording your drive at 60FPS, which is excellent for capturing details in motion.

BlackVue DR750-2CH LTE Cloud Dash Cam is the first dash cam with built-in LTE support, and perhaps it’s its best feature. Just insert and activate the SIM Card and you’re ready to go. No need for a separate Wi-Fi LTE hotspot.

2. Thinkware FA200 Dual Channel Full HD Wi-Fi Dash Cam

Thinkware FA200 Dual Channel Full HD Wi-Fi Dash Cam is an entry-level dash cam that does not have fancy Cloud features, nor is the footage class-leading 2K or 4K. But then it’s incredibly user-friendly. It’s also perfect for dashcams newbies that prefer to start with something reliable and less daunting.

The Thinkware FA200 2-CH records both the road ahead and the traffic behind in Full HD. Plus, it comes with a host of modern recording features. For example, it features a heavy emphasis on advanced parking features. In addition, the FA200 is equipped with Time Lapse and Energy Saving Mode for extended surveillance. All of this for less than $200!

3. BlackVue DR750X-2CH Truck

Best Dash Cam For Car In 2021

BlackVue DR750X-2CH Truck is appropriate for heavy-duty vehicles. This is because you will need a camera that you can mount on the vehicle’s exterior to see behind. You would also need a clear view of the cargo loading and unloading operations. Therefore, it needs to be water-resistant, waterproof, and a good night vision.

The DR750X-2CH Truck rear camera is built to withstand most weather conditions with its metal casing. The luminosity sensor detects ambient brightness. This automatically activates the six built-in IR lights to help identify vehicles and objects even when it’s dark.

4. Viofo A129 Pro Duo

Although not famous, the Viofo A129 is quite popular. This camera is capable of capturing in 4K UHD. That’s the sickest video you can get now. It does this by utilizing its 8.29MP Sony Exmor R sensor.

Additionally, you get multiple bit-rate options and H.265 high-efficiency video coding. This is an excellent pick if you’re looking for dashcam footage that’s a cut above.

Don’t miss:

Furthermore, useful extra modes such as Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) and Super Night Vision are available. Meaning you’re always prepared no matter the weather and lighting conditions.

The camera units themselves are relatively bulky, and you can’t remove them from their mounts. The front unit is sizeable, partly due to the LCD screen. Suppose you’re not bothered about an LCD screen and want a smaller dash cam. It may be worth considering one of the others on this list. Otherwise, this is an excellent buy.

5. Kenwood DRV-A601W 4K Dash Cam & KCA-R200 Rear View Camera Bundle

Kenwood is popular with car speakers and rice cookers. But they also produce dashcams too. And their dash cams are pretty impressive, with high picture and video quality.

This dual cam bundle features 4K resolution at the front and QHD (1440p) from the rear. The use of HDR (high dynamic range) tech helps ease the problem of harsh shadows obscuring details like license plates. A detachable polarizing filter helps guard against glare and reflections. And the viewing angle of 161 is wide indeed.

Set up is relatively easy. A built-in GPS receiver helps you pinpoint the exact location of incidents when making an insurance claim. An LCD display screen lets you use video playback to review your footage. And it comes with a 64SD card too. There’s nothing particularly special or unique about this front and rear dash cam bundle, and it lacks some high-end features like Alexa or speed camera recognition. But overall, it does a solid and reliable job, time after time.

6. Garmin Dash Cam 66W and Auto Sync

The Garmin Dash Cam 66W is one of our favorite dash cams. But it doubles as a dual dashcam, too. That’s thanks to Garmin’s smart Dash Cam Auto Sync feature. In this, up to four compatible cameras can be set to record simultaneously. That way, you could fit dashcams to the front and rear of your car. But also facing out of the sides, which could be particularly useful for larger vehicles like vans and motorhomes. Of course, this means you need to buy two or more cameras (as these are not sold in kits). So, factor that into your comparisons.

This Auto Sync feature is not exclusive to the 66W. It also works with Garmin’s 46, 56, Mini and Tandem dash cams. The latter has two lenses of its own to record the interior of the car and the exterior.

As for the Dash Cam 66W itself records in 1440p at 60 frames per second and with HDR. It also has a 180-degree wide-angle lens. Unusually for a dash cam, the 66W has a battery. But it only lasts for 30 minutes, so you’ll want to plug in for most journeys or permanently hardwire the camera to your car.

7. Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam Front and Rear Camera

Like the idea of talking to your front and rear dash cam? Then check out the Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam Front and Rear Camera, which comes in-built with Amazon Alexa assistance. This means you can tell the dash cams to start recording and ask Alexa for directions. You can also ask it to play music, give you news and weather updates, make a call, etc. And given that you don’t want to be doing anything distracting with your hands or eyes while driving. This is one situation when voice control really is handy.

Picture quality is decent, too, allowing you to record at either 1440P at 30fps or 1080P at 60fps through the F1.6 lens. Equipped with clever software that optimizes the color and lighting of your footage, whatever the conditions. It also records audio if you want, although you can switch this off if you don’t want it.

Also, note that there’s a very decent 3-inch HD screen. You can connect to your phone using Bluetooth 4.2 and Quick-Link Wi-Fi via the free app. Furthermore, you can set the device to automatically alert emergency services of your GPS location in the case of an accident.

8. Zenfox T3 3CH

Zenfox T3 3CH’s front and rear dash cam goes the extra mile by offering a third camera. The Zenfox T3 3CH monitors the inside of the vehicle and the outside. This is a great bonus for those who carry paid passengers but could also help settle family arguments. The interior camera benefits from infrared, too, so it can help keep an eye on things when your car or truck is parked up overnight.

With a 1440P 5-megapixel camera up front, and 1080P two-megapixel cameras middle and rear, the Zenfox offers a great set of features for the price. In addition, this is one of the few multi-camera models that have a built-in screen, albeit a small 2-inch LCD.

9. Thinkware Q800 Pro

The Thinkware Q800 Pro is a dashcam packed full of features and shoots in crisp, 2K resolution. We think the design strikes a good balance between form and function, and while the vast range of driver safety and assistance features won’t be for everyone, they work well and could be a real bonus for some buyers.

  • High-quality 2K video (that’s a resolution of 1440p)
  • Lane departure warning
  • Speed camera alert system.
  • Advanced night vision capabilities
  • Shoots through a 140-degree lens
  • Integrated GPS.

It can learn and understand the movements and distance of the vehicle ahead, allowing the camera to warn you if it thinks you are going to crash into the car in front. It can also sound an alert when the vehicle ahead moves away and you haven’t noticed.

Thinkware’s dash cams are shaped differently from most others, and despite being expensive, the Q800 Pro does not have a display. This is a deliberate move to limit driver distraction. Alternatively, there are a few buttons to adjust settings. You can also take more control via the Thinkware smartphone app.

The rear camera is much smaller and shoots at Full HD at 30fps through a 140-degree lens. It plugs into the front camera using a long cable. And both record to the same SD card held in the front camera.

10. Blackvue DR590-2CH

A cheaper option from Blackview is the DR590-2CH. It has the same slim and subtle design as the others on our list but lacks features like Wi-Fi and GPS. The former means you’ll have to transfer videos via the microSD card. While the latter means your videos will lack location and speed data unless you buy Blackview’s optional GPS module.

Aside from those downsides, this is a good option for drivers on a more limited budget. As well as preventing driver distraction, this makes the camera less visible to potential thieves.

Both cameras record at Full HD at 30fps, and both have a 139-degree lens.
