When Do You Need to Update Xbox One Console?
When your Xbox One is not up-to-date, or you’re facing some issues on the console, updating it can fix these issues.
You can choose to update Xbox One online. However, if the network connection is not available, you can choose to perform an Xbox One offline update.
Why an Offline Update?
If your internet connection is weak or you don’t want to lose any offline games. An offline update is the way to go. With that being said, let’s look at how you can update your Xbox One console offline.
How to Offline Update Xbox One Console?
You can use the Xbox One Offline System Update (OSU) process to do the job: you can download the OSU process on your Windows computer and then use it to update your Xbox One console.
What you need:
- A Windows computer with an internet connection
- A USB flash drive that has at least 6 GB of space and is also formatted as an NTFS
- A copy of the latest Xbox system update.
Step 1: Download Offline System Update (OSU1)
- Connect your USB flash drive to your computer.
- Now, download the OSU1 zip file to the USB stick.
- After that, move the file to the USB drive.
- Once done, Unzip the downloaded file.
- Copy the $SystemUpdate file from the .zip file to your USB flash drive.
Note:The files should be copied to the root directory, and there should be no other files in the drive.
- Once the copy is finished, eject the USB stick from your computer.
Step 2: Update your Xbox One Console
This next part is quite important; make sure your Xbox One console is powered off.
- Plug in your USB stick.
- Then, hold down the Bind button and the Eject button and press the power button once.
- Hold the Bind and Eject buttons for about 15 seconds until you hear two power-up tones, and then release the buttons.
- Now, you should see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter screen.
- Select the option that says Offline System Update.
- Now, the update will start. This will take several minutes, so be patient.
While updating, your Xbox console will restart several times. Don’t panic.
After updating successfully, you should be taken back to the home screen. Congratulations, you have successfully updated your Xbox One console offline.
