The best Metro by T-Mobile phones is our LTE network which has been analyzed to give excellent coverage nationwide. It enables one to enjoy economical monthly data plans. In comparison to its parent network T-Mobile, Metro is seen to be the best performing prepaid and favorite discount carrier analyzed so far, which also gives a lot of data for just $40 a month (with taxes and fees included). This article highlights the 11 best Metro phones to spend your money on.
Of course, you don’t have to purchase a phone from Metro at all if you don’t wish to; being a GSM-based carrier on T-Mobile’s network, Metro supports unlocked phones from every manufacturer, allowing you to bring your own device if you like. However, Metro also offers opportunities to save on certain models in its store if you switch from another carrier and port your number over in the process — so it’s worth it to give the following phones a look.

How to Choose the Best Metro by T-Mobile Phone

While we regularly update our best Metro by T-Mobile phones page with the carrier’s most compelling deals, you’ll want to check the network’s smartphonesstore page for the latest and greatest offers — especially if you’re interested in switching from a rival carrier. Metro, like all wireless providers, offers the best discounts for new customers who bring their numbers over with them.

Otherwise, Metro offers a complete range of devices across all prices, so prospective buyers should consider those most critical smartphone features — like battery life, performance and camera quality — when choosing a new handset. Cheaper models, like the Galaxy A20 and Moto G7 Power, tend to prioritize battery life above those other factors. In other words, if longevity on a charge is all you need, you could be in an ideal position to save.

Some Of The Phones Offered By Metro By T-Mobile

iPhone SE (2022)

IPhone-SE-2022.jpg
The iPhone SEis now the cheapest iPhoneApple offers, and it packs stellar performance for a very easy-to-stomach $429 price. Buyers receive an A15 Bionic CPU — the very same one inside the iPhone 13 — as well as a 12-megapixel camera system that benefits from the company’s latest computational photography tricks.
The iPhone SE surely doesn’t have the best battery life of any iPhone, given its relatively tiny battery. You’ll probably want to spend an extra $50 and upgrade to 128GB of storage as well if you can. But for the price, the SE’s premium features — like wireless charging and water resistance — make it well worth a look for Metro by T-Mobile customers, especially since it supports sub-6GHz and C-band 5G.

iPhone 13 Series

IPhone-13-Series-1024x576.jpg
The iPhone 13 series are the latest flagship iOS-based handset from Apple, and they come in four different models. All four phones come with Apple’s latest and fastest processor, the A15 Bionic. The pocket-friendly iPhone 13 Mini is the most affordable of the bunch. It has a 5.4-inch Super Retina Display, two 12MP rear cameras, a 12MP front-facing camera, and a 2,438mAh battery, improving on last year’s woeful battery issues. The iPhone 13 is a little larger, sporting a 6.1-inch display. The battery is also slightly more prominent.
The iPhone 13 Pro‘s most significant feature is a triple rear camera setup, with wide, telephoto, and ultrawide lenses, all of which are 12MP sensors. It also has a 6.1-inch display and a battery that should last plenty longer than previous generations.
Sadly, Metro isn’t offering the Pro versions of the iPhone 13, but they have in the past, so they might come back. In the meantime, you can still buy the iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13.

OnePlus Nord N20 5G

OnePlus-Nord-N20-5G-1024x569.jpg
OnePlus-Nord-N20-5G-1024x569.jpg
The OnePlus Nord N20 5G is a reminder that 5G phones don’t have to break the bank. Coming in at $289 — a shockingly low price for a device that can connect with T-Mobile’s 5G network — the OnePlus Nord N20 5G is one of the best bangs for your buck.
Opt for this phone, and you can expect long battery life — almost eleven and a half hours on our test. The cameras perform okay in daylight, though we found the macro and monochrome lenses to be unnecessary additions. And you also get a 6.4-inch AMOLED display on the Nord N20 5G. There are definitely compromises, but this is the best 5G value on Metro.

Samsung S21 FE

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series is excellent, but most Samsung fans know the best value comes from their FE versions. The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE offers amazing bang per buck, featuring most of what we loved from the other S21 devices, but with a lighter price tag, making it one of the best Metro phones you can find.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE features an excellent 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is hard to find at this price range. Other great specs include a Snapdragon 888, plenty of RAM, a triple-camera system, and a healthy 4,500mAh battery. The design and build quality aren’t as fancy as the higher-end versions, but it still shows the Samsung look we know many of you love.

iPhone 11

Apple should be commended for building many of the iPhone 11 Pro’s headline features into the 6.1-inch iPhone 11, one of the best Metro by T-Mobile phones the carrier offers. This phone has seen its price drop to $599, even though it offers a powerful A13 Bionic chipset, two rear cameras and the finest battery life of Apple’s iPhone 11 family. Metro cuts the price even further for people switching from another carrier.
iPhone 11 buyers still get Face ID authentication for their troubles, as well as support for wireless charging and IP68 water resistance. It’s really all the iPhone anyone needs at a great price.

Samsung Galaxy A53

Released as an upgrade to the Galaxy A52, the Samsung Galaxy A53 is an excellent option for those who want to get into the 5G game on the cheap. And this is no slouch, despite its lower price point, which is why it joins the best Metro by T-Mobile phone list.
The Exynos 1280 chipset is quite powerful and more than suitable for most people. There’s also a quad-camera array at the back, a large 5,000mAh battery, and a lovely AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

iPhone 12 Series

The iPhone 12 series are flagship iOS-based handset from Apple, and they come in four different models. All four phones come with Apple’s latest and fastest processor, the A14 Bionic. The pocket-friendly iPhone 12 Mini is definitely the most affordable of the three models, with a Metro by T-Mobile price of $529.99. It has a 5.4-inch Super Retina Display, two 12MP rear cameras, a 12MP front-facing camera, and a 2,227mAh battery that’s just about all Apple could pack into the tiny package.
The iPhone 12 Pro‘s biggest feature is a triple rear camera setup, with standard, telephoto, and wide-angle lenses, all of which are 12MP sensors. It also has a 6.1-inch display and a battery that should last plenty longer than previous generations. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is basically the bigger 6.7-inch version of the iPhone 12 Pro, with all of the top-end bells and whistles.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is a reminder that 5G phones don’t have to break the bank. Normally $299 — a shockingly low price for a device that can connect with T-Mobile’s 5G network — the OnePlus Nord N10 5G can be yours for free when you switch your service to Metro by T-Mobile.
Opt for this phone, and you can expect long battery life — nearly 12 hours on our test. The cameras perform well enough, though we found the macro and monochrome lenses to be unnecessary additions. OnePlus put more polish on its regular Nord (which never came to the US, unfortunately), but the N10 is a very good budget phone that still manages to offer some premium features.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

As usual, Samsung kickstarted last year with its hottest device lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S20 family. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, Galaxy S20 Ultra, and the newest Galaxy S20 FE. Metro by T-Mobile only has the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE for sale.
It’s one of the most important Samsung smartphones of the year, as well as one of the best Metro phones you can find. Not only is it very powerful, but Samsung usually goes all out with the design, and this is no exception. The Galaxy S20 FE’s selfie camera is the undeniable star of the show thanks to a powerful 32MP lens.

Moto G Stylus

Moto-G-Stylus-1024x576.jpg
Moto-G-Stylus-1024x576.jpg
The Moto G Stylus isn’t quite our favorite budget Androidphone — that honor actually goes to either last year’s Moto G Power or the newer Moto G Power (2021), both of which last much longer on a charge. However, the Moto G Stylus’ longevity still isn’t anything to sneeze at. At 12 hours and 13 minutes, the Moto G Stylus still ranks on our list of the best phone battery life.
But, of course, a phone like the Moto G Stylus is about more than battery life. The Snapdragon 665 CPU inside this $299 handset offers solid overall performance. And with 128GB of built-in storage, you won’t need to spring for a microSD card — though you certainly can put one in the phone if you wish. Rounding out the feature set is, of course, that handy stylus, which assists with productivity and note taking, and separates Moto’s handset from other similarly-price models.
Right now, Metro is selling the Moto G Stylus for just $239. That’s $60 off the regular price of the device unlocked, meaning you can expect significant savings by choosing to go with the discount prepaid network.

Motorola One 5G Ace

Motorola-One-5G-Ace.jpg
The Motorola One 5G Ace runs a near-stock version of Android, packs 5G connectivity, and runs on a massive 5,000mAh battery. It won’t hurt your wallet too much, but you get almost all of the midrange specs you could hope for. You get the Snapdragon 750G chipset and 6GB of RAM, along with 128GB of onboard storage that you can expand thanks to the microSD card.
The new Motorola One 5G Ace sports a triple camera setup and an impressive silver finish. This is a great phone for users who want a long-lasting device with one of the lightest Android skins around. Its solid spec sheet and affordable price make it one of the best Metro phones.

How We Test Smartphones

Smartphones that make any of our best phone lists need to excel on several tests that we run on every handset. We perform some of these tests in our labs and some in the real world.
  • In terms of performance, we rely on such synthetic benchmarks as Geekbench 5 and GFXBench to measure graphics performance. These tests allow us to compare performance across iPhones and Android devices. We also run a real-world video transcoding test on each phone using the Adobe Premiere Rush app and time the result.
  • To measure the quality of a phone’s display, we perform lab tests to determine the brightness of the panel (in nits), as well as how colorful each screen is (DCI-P3 color gamut). In these cases, higher numbers are better. We also measure the color accuracy of each panel with a Delta-E rating, where lower numbers are better and a score of 0 is perfect.
  • We run a web surfing test over 5G or 4G at 150 nits of screen brightness until the battery gives out. In general, a phone that lasts 10 hours or more is good, and anything above 11 hours makes our list of the best phone battery life.
  • We take shots of landscapes, food, portraits and more with the best phones and also in the field to take photos outdoors, indoors and at night in low light to see how they perform versus their closest competitors. ❤
