It can be frustrating when your iPhonebegins to slow down. There are various reasons why your iPhone might’ve slowed down, such as insufficient memory, too many background processes, outdated software, etc. This article will discuss some steps you can take to speed up your aging iPhone.

What Causes a Slow iPhone?

A range of issues can cause a slow iPhone. The most obvious one is aging, a problem that will affect all smartphoneseventually. Since newer iPhone models are faster, with more cores, better GPUs, and more RAM, the latest software is made with performance devices in mind rather than older hardware.

Restart your iPhone

The first step is to restart your iPhone. Press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears. If you have an iPhone Xor later, press and hold the Side button along with either of the volume buttons. Now, drag the slider from left to right to turn off your iPhone.
Wait for about 30 seconds. Then, turn your iPhone on by pressing and holding down the Side button until the Apple logo appears. This refreshes the system and automatically fixes some glitches that may be causing it to run slow.

Disable Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode (LPM) is useful for preserving battery life, but that added juice comes at the cost of performance.
Turn off the feature by toggling Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. You can also disable it using Control Center or automate it using Shortcuts.

Close Unnecessary Apps

Most iPhones can handle multitasking very well, but if you’re running many resource-intensive apps such as photo/video editors or a game, your iPhone can lag or slow down.
This is especially noticeable on older phones that may be low on memory. You should force close apps you’re not actively using and see if that helps speed up your iPhone.

Free Up Some Space

Apple doesn’t define a minimum amount of spare space that you should have available on your device at any one time, but if you see the “Your iPhone ran out of space” error a lot, performance may be suffering.
Head to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to look at how much free space you have, then get rid of apps and other things to free up space.

Update iOS

Updating to the latest version of iOS can fix many issues you may be experiencing on your iPhone. You can check for updates by going to Settings → General → Software Update.
Open Settings, Tap on General, and Then Tap on Software Update

Replace the Battery

If your battery is in bad shape, your iPhone may underclock your iPhone to preserve battery life.
You can check the current healthof your battery under Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Pay close attention to the “Performance Capability” area here. If your iPhone doesn’t report “Peak Performance Capability,” it may be encountering a slowdown related to the battery.
