Getting meaningless messages from random Facebook Messenger users can be very annoying, especially if you’re the type that values your online presence.
With that being said, you might be looking for a way to remove someone on Messenger without blocking them.
Unfortunately, Facebook does not provide a remove button in Messenger. In 2020 Facebook updated Messenger and changed the ‘delete’ button to ‘block.’ So, removing someone on Messenger is not very straightforward. You will have to find alternate methods to do this.
This guide will explain how to remove someone on Messenger without blocking them.
You may have someone you don’t know in your contact list, and this happens because you have enabled your phone contacts to sync with Messenger.
For this reason, you may get tons of unwanted messages. If you only wish to receive messages from your Facebook friends and not your contacts, remove non-friends from Messenger.
Here’s how:
Open the Messenger app
Navigate to the People icon at the bottom right of the screen
Find the non-friend that you want to remove
The contact icon will then appear on the top of the screen
Now, tap on the info icon
Tap the “Remove contact” displayed on the screen and then “Remove” confirm.
Here’s how you can bulk remove non-friends:
Open the Messenger app on your phone.
Click on your profile picture in the top left corner.
Scroll down to find the “Phone Contacts” option.
Here click on Manage contacts. You’ll find all your phone contacts that are added to the Messenger.
Click on “Delete All Contacts” to remove these contacts from Messenger altogether.
