  • Disney Plus server is down

How to Fix it when Disney Plus App is Crashing on Your Device

Now that you know what might be causing the issue, it’s time to troubleshoot. Follow the steps below to fix Disney Plus App crashing error.

Quick Fix 1: Check Your Internet Connection

Whenever you’re experiencing Disney Plus App crashing error, your first step should be to check if your internet connection is strong enough to stream content on the Disney Plus app.

You can perform an internet connection speed test to see how slow or fast your Internet network signal is. Note that you will need at least 5Mbps to stream on Disney Plus app. You can use Fast.com or SpeedCheck.org to check your internet connection strength.

If your WiFi Internet network signal is far lower than the recommended 5Mbps, you can try to perform a power cycle on your devices to refresh the connection. Unplug your router and modem and turn off your streaming device for at least 1 minute. Now, you can turn them back on and try again.

Quick Fix 2: Check Disney Plus Servers

Disney Plus is an online platform that relies on its servers to deliver movies and other shows. The Disney Plus app will not function properly if the server is down. So, you need to check the Disney Plus server status.

To do this, you can use third-party sites like Downdetector, where you can view the current status of Disney Plus. If the servers are down, your only option is to wait for Disney to address the issue.

If the servers are running correctly, proceed to the next method below.

Quick Fix 3: Restart the Disney Plus App

In most cases, a quick restart of the app will do. If your Disney+ app crashes, or if the video freezes or buffers constantly, you can exit the app and leave it for a few seconds. Then, relaunch it and try again.

Quick Fix 4: Update the Disney Plus App

Updating apps on your mobile device and computer does not always come naturally to users. However, some devices automatically download available updates, so you don’t have to do it manually.

Still, you may want to check if your Disney+ app is up to date or not. If not, you will need to update it since Disney is adding improvements and fixes for bugs on every latest software version they release.

Go to the App Store for an iOS device or the Google Play Store for Android and search for Disney Plus to check for updates. If there’s an update button next to the app, click it to update to the latest version. If there’s no update button, it means you’re already on the latest version.

Quick Fix 5: Test By Watching Another Show

If the Disney Plus app crashes while watching a movie or TV show, the problem could be with the title you are playing. To check if the issue only occurs on a specific show, go back to the media library and try playing another title.

Quick Fix 6: Clear the Cached Data and Cookies

Too many cached data and cookies stored in your Disney+ app will only trigger playback problems.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to clear the app cache on iPhones or iPads. To clear the cache on your Android device:

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Select Apps.
  • Look for Disney Plus.
  • Select Storage.
  • Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data.

If you are using your browser to stream Disney Plus:

  • Navigate to the History or More Tools section.
  • Select Clear browsing data or Clear recent history.
  • Check the boxes next to cache and cookies.
  • Click Clear Cache.

Quick Fix 7: Check If Your Device Is Supported

Disney Plus is available on all major operating systems and some home entertainment devices. However, this doesn’t mean that all devices running these operating systems are compatible with the app.

Before subscribing to the platform, visit their Help Center and verify if your current device is compatible.

On the other hand, you can always use their online website if your system is not supported or consider getting a new device.

Quick Fix 8: Reinstall the Disney Plus App

If you still encounter the Disney Plus App error, you can uninstall your Disney+ app and reinstall it again via the App Store section of your streaming device.

Quick Fix 9: Re-Login to Your Account

Your user data may have encountered a temporary bug or glitch that causes the app to crash when watching a movie or TV show. To fix this, we suggest that you sign out of your current session and log back in after several minutes.

On Android and iOS, you can sign out of your Disney Plus account by doing the following:

  • First, open the Disney Plus app on your device.
  • After that, tap on your Avatar to access your profile page.
  • Lastly, tap the Log Out button.

Quick Fix 10: Turn Off VPN

Virtual private networks are third-party applications that provide security over your home and local connection. They protect your data from hackers by changing your default IP address and filtering sensitive data like credit card numbers, bank information, and social media accounts.

Unfortunately, not all VPNs work efficiently and could cause interruptions and delays to your network.

If the Disney Plus app crashes on your device, turn off your VPN first and see if the problem goes away.
