At this point, we can’t be sure whether you’re dealing with a software or a hardwareproblem. More often than not, your AirPods Pro are not connecting to your iPhone because of a minor software glitch.
The AirPods Pro are designed to seamlessly connect to your iPhone, but it doesn’t always work so smoothly. The steps below will help you diagnose the type of problem you’re dealing with, starting with software troubleshooting steps. At the end of the guide, we’ll show you how to get in touch with Apple if you find that your AirPods Pro are broken.

Make sure you’re running the right version of iOS

If you’ve never connected these AirPods to your iPhone or iPad before, make sure that the devices meet the minimum system requirements. If you have first generation AirPods, your iOS device must be running iOS 10or later; for the second generation AirPods, you need at least iOS 12.2.
To know the iOS version your iPhone is running, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap General > Software Update. Check which version of iOS you’re running, and install an update if needed.

Set Up AirPods Using Your iPhone

Your iPhone needs to be connected to your AirPods before you can use them. AirPods are designed to easily connect to your iPhone as soon as you open the Charging Case.
How Do I Set Up AirPods Using My iPhone?
  • Unlock your iPhone.
  • Open the Charging Case with your AirPods inside.
  • Hold the Charging Case next to your iPhone.
  • A setup animation will appear on your iPhone.
  • Tap Connect.
  • Tap Done.

Restart Your iPhone

Restarting your iPhone can sometimes fix minor software glitches and errors.
How Do I Restart My iPhone?
Press and hold the power button (Sleep / Wake button) on your iPhone until the slide to power off slider appears on the display.Swipe the red power icon from left to right to turn off your iPhone.Wait about 30 seconds, then press and hold the power button again until you see the Apple logo appears.

Turn Bluetooth Off And Back On Again

Turning Bluetooth off and back on again is sometimes enough to fix simple connectivity issues between your iPhone and Bluetooth devices.
Here’s how to turn Bluetooth off and back on:
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center.Tap the Bluetooth icon. You’ll know Bluetooth is off when the icon is black with a gray background.To turn Bluetooth back on, tap the Bluetooth icon once again. You’ll know Bluetooth is on when the icon is white with a blue background.

Charge Your AirPods

Charging your AirPods ensures that they will have enough battery life to function properly. AirPods are charged using the Charging Case.
Put your AirPods in the Charging Case.When your AirPods are in the Charging Case, the Status light will indicate the amount of charge your AirPods have.The Status light will turn green when your AirPods are fully charged.

Make Sure Your AirPods Are Connected To The Correct Device

If your AirPods are connected to a different device, they may be receiving audio output from the other device. AirPods are not designed to receive audio output from two devices at the same time.
To make sure AirPods are connected to the correct device:
Open Control Center by swiping up from below your screen.Swipe from right to left to open the audio interface (pictured on the left).Tap the audio output button Audio Output Icon, which looks like a small triangle with three circles coming out of it.Tap AirPods to connect your iPhone to your AirPods.If you do not see AirPods listed, they are out of range.

Reset All Settings

Many iPhone problems are caused when Settings isn’t set up correctly or by corruption within individual Settings app files. Restoring the Settings app back to factory defaults doesn’t fix every iPhone software problem, but it is a go-to fix for Apple technicians because it does solve a lot of problems that would be very difficult to to track down by hand.
Here’s how to Reset All Settings:
Open the Settings app > Tap General> Scroll down to Reset. It will be the last option in Settings. Enter your passcode then tap Reset All Settings. Your iPhone will automatically turn back on when the reset finishes.

Repair Your AirPods

If you’ve gotten this far and your AirPods still won’t connect to your iPhone, you may have a hardware problem with your AirPods.
There are a few ways to repair your AirPods:
If You’re Still Within The Return Window:Bring your AirPods back to the store where you purchased them and exchange them for a new pair.
If You’re Outside The Return Window:Repair them through Apple’s online support, or make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store, orSet up an online mail-in repair through Apple’s online support.
