How To Clean A PC Power Supply
Clean power means your equipment will have protection against several kinds of damage. Follow the step-by-step walkthrough below to easily get that done:
- Shut down and unplug your computer. (Note: Wait at least 1 hour to ensure that all internal components are cooled off, and do not attempt to clean the inside of your PC while it is running or plugged in).
- Unscrew and remove your computer’s access panel. (An access panel is located at a different position, depending on your PC model. However, it can be easily identified; it is a large removable sheet of metal or plastic screwed onto your PC’s main body).
- Locate the power supply by checking where your computer power cable is connected to. You can also recognize it through the large fan.
- Use a 12-oz. can of compressed air with a nozzle to blow dust and dirt off the power supply. Then, blow the air through the natural holes and air channels of the power supply’s fan, shooting dust out of the PC. Dust for about 1 to 2 minutes, using short bursts of air.
