Many things can cause a Fire Stick remote not to work. The most common issues include problems with the batteries, obstructions that block the signal from the remote, and interference from other electronics. This article explains what to do when your Firestick remote is not working.
Remove any obstructions between your remote and your Fire Stick.
If the remote only works when you hold your remote behind your TV or are very close to your TV, use the Fire Stick extension dongle to reposition the device.
If your Fire TV device is placed inside an entertainment cabinet or a similar enclosure, remove it from the enclosure.
To control your Fire TV device with a phone, you need to install the Fire TV remote app. If you’re an Androiduser, you can find them all on Google Playstore. iOS users will find it on the app store. Kindle users will find it on the Amazon app store.
Here’s how to get it working with your Fire Stick or Fire TV device:
Plug your Fire Stick or Fire TV device in and wait for it to boot up.
Download and install the Fire TV remote app, and launch it.
Sign in to your Amazon account in the Fire TV remote app.
Select your Fire TV device from the list of devices in the app.
Please wait for a code to appear on your television and enter it into the app.
That’s it; your phone will now function as a Fire TV remote.

FireStick can be connected to up to 7 Bluetooth devices, including the remote controllers. If you have already connected seven devices, you will need to disconnect at least one of them. Here is how you can do that:
Select “Settings” from the FireStick home screen on the top menu bar.
Open Controllers & Bluetooth Devices on the next screen.
You will see the list of all the connected devices. Just choose the device you wish to unpair and follow the onscreen instruction.
